Perryville Benefit Trial

Thanks to all the handlers who attended the Perryville KY Bluegrass Benefit trial last weekend. As usual, we had ever changing March weather. Saturday was beautiful and sunny. Sunday was a round robin of rain, cold, snow, wind with an occasional peek of tantalizing sunshine.
The course on the new field was very challenging, with an obscuring hill to the right and a creek when casting left. The fetch line also included the creek and things went blind in a hurry if you got much off line. The wool sheep were fresh and frisky and made the dog work every step of the course.
We were fully loaded with 80 runs each day and our handlers stepped up--setting, scribing, judging and being ready and waiting for their turn at the post. I'd make a list to thank everyone, but I know I'd miss a name or two. I do have to thank, by name, Rusty Kreider and Doyle Gibson. These men did a tremendous amount of planning and heavy lifting. Without them, no sheep and no course.
